Joni Carlo teaches Ethics, Introduction to Philosophy, and Fundamentals of Communication at CWI. A native of San Francisco, she brings big city grit, a sharp mind, and a healthy dose of eccentricity into every classroom. With over 15 years of teaching experience, an extensive mindfulness and performance background including yoga, meditation, theater, dance, performance art/expressive arts therapy and an academic background in philosophy, communication theory, and forensic psychology, Joni’s classes are never dull — she has a reputation for being, in her own words, “an acquired taste.”
In 2023, she received the General Education Matriculation Award for Educator of the Year in Oral Communication.
Known for blending real-world relevance with unapologetic honesty, she believes in asking the hard questions, holding space for deep conversations, and occasionally quoting Kierkegaard in yoga pants! 🙂
