Opt-Out Process
In accordance with federal Department of Education regulations, the College must provide students the ability to opt-out of eligible special course fees, as noted in the approved list of fees.
- Once registered for a class with a special course fee, a student may choose to opt out of eligible fees no later than the first day of the semester.
- Students who choose to opt out of a special course fee accept personal responsibility for acquiring the required materials or supplies as they are specifically intended to ensure preparedness for the class.
- Students can begin the opt-out process by setting up an appointment with the program Department Chair prior to the start of the semester to confirm eligibility for opt out.
- The student will complete an opt-out form, provided by the Department Chair, and submit the completed form to One Stop Student Services.
Once an opt-out request has been submitted, the student's account balance will be adjusted within 10 business days removing the special course fee charge. Opt-out adjustments cannot be reversed.
